Tomado del Prólogo: This collection of Mayan bird legends has come from word-of-mouth accounts. They are original tales that have been told in Mayan by Yucatec Mayans for generations. Most appear in print fo the first time. Some of the stories are strikigly a-Christian tehology. Others have been altered through repeated tellings so that they are literate Mayan adaptations. In either case, the legends are of academic value to the ethnologist, amateur archeologists and ornithologists.
Tomado del Prólogo: Esta colección de leyendas de aves mayas proviene del boca a boca. Son cuentos originales que han sido contados en maya por mayas yucatecos durante generaciones. La mayoría aparece impresa por primera vez. Algunas de las historias son sorprendentemente teología acristiana. Otros han sido alterados mediante relatos repetidos para que sean adaptaciones mayas alfabetizadas.
